Renfei Tan 「谈任飞」

I am a fifth-year PhD candidate at MIT, affiliated with the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) and the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS). My advisor is David Simchi-Levi.

Before joining MIT, I acquired my Bachelor's degree majoring in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, at the College of Engineering, Peking University.

My research studies incentive-aware learning and design in operational systems in which human and AI agents act strategically in their own interests. I focus on two complementary dimensions:

• Incentive Alignment: learning from and designing for strategic behavior in operational systems;

• Decision Quality: transforming modern data-driven and AI technology into better operational decisions.

I will be on the 2026-2027 job market.
